Shop Talk – We’re open for business

Well it’s real.  You can find SomebodyElsesProject on ETSY!!! I have an etsy shop.

If you’ve never heard of or visited etsy it is a fantastic place and one will surely suck up more of your time….you know like blog reading. Etsy is an online marketplace for all things handmade. Supplies, clothing, home décor, cards, jewelry,  gifts, even  food….so cool to see all the talent God has created.

It’s been a back burner dream of mine to one day have a shop…and now I do. I had to put all my “type A” tendencies aside in putting my listings together to open the shop. At the convention I recently attended I learned that I needed to stop waiting for all the ducks to be in a row and everything to be perfect before I opened up shop. There will (fingers crossed) be time to make adjustments, add items and tweek descriptions and photos.  I launched Monday and have been tweeking and working on it each day since. There is a lot to learn but it is really fun. What has been the most fun is getting my first order! WOO HOO! Best part: it wasn’t even from a sympathetic friend or mother. My first sale was real person! So very exciting. Ms. Megan from Los Angeles! Thank you darling!

So what am I selling….you’ll never guess. Those who are close to me will think it is the weirdest two items. Ornaments and Stamps.
HUH???? It is weird. But these items are foundations for two of my loves. Photos and sending mail.

I love photos and any way I can get more of my photos in my world and in the world of my girls’ grandmothers the better. For the last five
years I’ve been making these photo ornaments as Christmas gifts for our parents, grandparents and brothers. They love them because they are great photos of our family. They are lightweight, showcase the photos beautifully and
have their favorite people on them.  They are great for Christmas but can be hung year round too. I’ve created wreathes
that were covered in the photos. Grandmothers drool over these things. (which is ok because they wipe clean)

And mail…who doesn’t love mail?! I love getting mail, sending mail, going to the post office. My husband believes I am single
handedly keeping the post offices open. When I send a thank you note, an invite, a card or hell, a bill I love putting the final beautiful touch on the envelope: our return address stamp. If you remember when we started discussing the idea of moving my second thought was “I get to design a new address stamp”. (first though = oh $#!*) Now, I don’t just have one for our family but each of
the girls has their very own return address stamp. You know….for their correspondences.  But we have/will have even more than
just address stamps, recipe card stamps, monogram stamps, “handmade by:” stamps. I can create any custom stamp your heart desires.

And I have even more ideas. I just need time. I haven’t found anyone on etsy selling time yet. But I will faithfully search for it each day.

So, when you have time, check out my shop. Share the link with your friends. It is open 24 hours so you can shop in your pjs. Let me know what you think. What would you like to see in the shop?
